Welcome to the Pals July 2018 Blog Hop. We’re having a “Pattern Party”. This month our creations will feature our favorite Designer Series Papers and coordinating embellishments from the new annual catalog from Stampin’ Up!You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. This month we are featuring our favorite Designer Series Paper. Well…I have several favorites so it was difficult to choose only one to showcase. Since I needed a Birthday Card for a teen I decided to choose a pattern from the Broadway Bound Suite which features some fun, bold, and bright colors – perfect for a teenager. I love Lemon-Lime Twist paired with Basic Black and the pops of Lovely Lipstick Balloons sets it off nicely. Do you know a teen who would enjoy getting a card like this in the mail?
Card Instructions:
I began with an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic Black Cardstock (folded it in half lengthwise) to create the 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Card Base. I also used Basic Black Cardstock to die cut the word “Celebrate” from the Celebrate You Thinlits.A 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper was glued to the a 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ piece of Lovely Lipstick Cardstock.Next, I made a “faux bow” with an 8″ piece of Black 1/2″ Satin Ribbon. The ribbon was wrapped around the card front at an angle and adhered at the back with Mini Glue Dots. A glue dot underneath the bow holds it all in place.After securing the ribbon at the back, I trimmed off any excess ribbon and glued the card front to the Black Card Base.Multipurpose Liquid Glue is my “go-to” glue for most everything. Carefully dab the glue to the back of “Celebrate,” then gently tuck it behind the top edge of ribbon.
Inside the Card:
I used Lovely Lipstick and Memento Black inks to stamp the balloon and sentiment onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock. They are from the Broadway Birthday Stamp Set which coordinates with the Broadway Bound Suite. Tip: Stamp All Your Pieces before gluing them together. If you make a mistake it can easily be fixed before it’s permanently attached. I like finishing off my cards by adding some Designer Series Paper to the envelope flaps. It’s super easy to do and just gives my cards a little something extra. You can do this too by simply gluing a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece of DSP to the outside flap of your envelope. Trim off the excess with a pair of Paper Snips. I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project!
