Magical Rain Shaker Card for a Special Occasion
Well, I’m not sure what my “special occasion” for this card is; I’m in Houston, so maybe just because it’s NOT raining this week! In all honesty, I’ve been wanting to try this new technique ever since I saw a You Tube video on it. So maybe that’s MY special occasion!
The technique is called “magic rain shaker card.” I’ve tried to do a little video below to show you how the beads move up and down the clear thread to simulate the rain falling. I’m not a great videographer (as in I’m terrible) and the lighting isn’t great, but you’ll get the idea.
I will admit, it’s a bit tedious to put together and therefore will only go to someone VERY, VERY special, but it was fun to create and not your run of the mill card. I plan to host a Techniques Class this week using this method and will post a tutorial after that for anyone interested. Otherwise, there are a couple of YouTube videos out there – just search “magic rain shaker card” and they should pop up.
Oh, for anyone trying to find this particular sentiment… I couldn’t find one in my stash that “fit” so I printed one onto Whisper White cardstock using my computer and fussy cut out the cloud shape.

Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 11, 2019 when our Hoppin’ Pals share their “It’s the Sentiment that Counts” projects. Don’t miss the fun!
I’ve changed up the format a little to my Holiday Classes – this year I’ll be offering a Christmas Club Stamp Camp that will feature a stamp set or bundle and we’ll make cards and other projects (gift/treat holders, tags, etc) at each. You’ll have the option to take only the class or to purchase the stamp set or bundle and have your own to use and take home to make more cards. An Online Class option will be available as well for those who aren’t local or prefer to relax at home while crafting and creating.
You’ll also notice that you now register for classes directly from the Calendar Description page of the class; some will take you to the same registration page you are used to but most will allow you to register directly from that Calendar page. All payments still go safely and securely through PayPal.
Speaking of the holidays… if you only get my Blog Post Updates and not my Crafty Newsletter, you’ll want to sign up soon (there’s a link at the top, right of the page). Welcome to the Pals’ July Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects that are “Mixing It Up” – adding texture that will really take your projects up a notch – or two! You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
A Tin Tile 3D Magnolia Card
I am in love with the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set and the Magnolia Lane Designer Papers! I’ve embossed the card front using the Tin Tile 3D Embossing Folder, creating a rich, deep texture for the background giving it a nostalgic feel – perfect for this beautiful southern magnolia. I then stamped two magnolias using Black Memento ink and colored them using my Stampin’ Blends.
To create a little more texture and give a three dimensional feel, I fussy cut the second magnolia with my Paper Snips, leaving only the center petals, then I curled the petals up slightly using my Bone Folder (see close up below). The center petals were then glued down, only in the very center and directly on top of the first magnolia.
I added a little Mossy Meadow Linen Thread to finish it off. A complete list of supplies and a link to the tutorial are located at the end of this post.

“On the day of the launch, if you try to order the Stampin’ Trimmer Cutting Blades before they are available, you will see this error message: “You may not order 1 of item 126995 because of promotion restrictions.” When the blades have sold out, the message will return to the current message until the next launch: “This item has been discontinued and cannot be added to your order (126995).”
We also want to remind you we are still working on a new trimmer option and hope to have more information to share in the coming months.”
Stampin’ Up! will not open up the ordering for until 10am (Mountain time) so you may want to be waiting online and not click on it until that time.
