Boxing Day!
Now, how about a little Boxing Day history for those who don’t know what it is…
During the Victorian era, servants, tradespeople, and the poor typically were given presents. The servants worked on Christmas Day and would have the day after Christmas off to visit their own families. The upper class would take leftover food, goods or money and put into boxes to give out to the poor.
Today Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and other Commonwealth countries celebrate Boxing Day on December 26, the day after Christmas, as a Public or Bank Holiday (meaning a paid holiday). In modern times, it’s become a day that tradespeople, employees, etc. receive gifts or gratuities from their customers or employers.
